How to get your residence certificate Palma de Mallorca

The residence certificate is what you need to be able to get the discount on internal flights across Spain. You’ll need to show this at the airport when flying to prove you are a resident.

To get the residence certificate first of all you will need the tarjeta ciudana (residence card) which is a credit-card sized grey card. Read about how to get your tarjeta ciudana in my previous blog post.

Once you have this, it’s very simple, have your residence card number ready and visit the Palma Gov site. Enter your residence card number and date of birth. Click go and the certificate will download automatically.

When booking your internal Spain flights online you’ll be asked to enter your NIE number, once entered your discount will be automatically added. Once you’ve booked your flights, you should get an email reminding you to bring the certificate with you.

I always have the certificate as a PDF on my phone. Once I actually forgot to download it until I was in the airport but it was fine as I did it there and then. Don’t stress as most airlines will accept PDF mobile versions as long as you can read it correctly.

The certificate expires every 6 months, so remember to renew it if you take another trip after that time. You can renew it as many times as you like.
